[NEWS] DEA to launch social contribution game "PicTree" next month, conducting demonstration test with Maebashi City

Participatory social contribution game to be released

On the 4th, Singapore-based DEA (Digital Entertainment Asset Pte.Ltd), which develops the GameFi platform, announced that it will launch a participatory social contribution game using power assets such as utility poles, "PicTree - My Power Pole Battle," together with TEPCO PG (Tokyo Electric Power Company Power Grid) and GGG (Greenway Grid Global Pte.Ltd), on April 13th.

At the same time as the launch, it was revealed that a limited area demonstration test will be conducted in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture.

DEA, TEPCO PG, and GGG signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) last year to consider participatory social contribution content, and have been considering problem solving using Web 3.0 with the aim of realizing a sustainable society.

In PicTree, players can earn rewards such as Amazon gift certificates and Deep Coin (DEP), a cryptocurrency issued by DEA, by helping with maintenance activities for familiar power assets such as utility poles and manholes while enjoying the game.

Specifically, participants will split into teams to take pictures of abnormalities in utility poles and other objects, and then "connect" them to earn rewards. The amount of reward earned will vary depending on the length of the connection between the utility poles.

Users' maintenance activities through Pictre will lead to early detection of equipment abnormalities in utility poles and other objects. DEA and others explain that these activities will enable contributions to society.

For two months after launch, the playable area will be limited to a part of Maebashi City as a demonstration experiment. The demonstration experiment period will run from April 13 to June 29, and the play area will change for each of the five seasons.

This initiative will be carried out as part of Maebashi City's "City Attractiveness Improvement Co-Creation Promotion Project." In relation to this, Mayor Akira Ogawa, who became the first female mayor of Maebashi City, stated at a city government press conference, "In these days when sustainable urban development is required, through this project, which is an effort to prevent power outages in the event of a disaster, we would like to inspect and manage infrastructure facilities and explore the possibility of maintaining and managing city-owned assets."

In addition, the target number of participants for the demonstration test, which will be carried out in a total of five areas, is about 100 people per area, and he stated his intention to invite people from both inside and outside the city to participate, and said that he is also considering planning bus tours and the like.

▶︎DEA・Yamada Kozo

In an interview, Yamada Kozo, CEO of DEA, said, "In past titles, there was room for improvement in the value provided in terms of whether they were sustainable. Rather than the value of work-life balance, we want to provide values such as enjoying life at work and play."

In addition, Kito Kazuki, Innovation Manager at GGG, who is responsible for conceiving the project, said, "I hope that in a few years this project will become a project that is loved all over the country and that people all over the world will use it in the future."

According to an individual interview after the city government press conference, they are working with local TV stations to release a documentary of the inter-university utility pole battle that will be held as part of a series of initiatives on May 4th and 5th of this year.
