Report on the First 'OKJ Academy' Event for Beginners in Cryptocurrency and Web3.0

The Theme of the First Session: 'Bitcoin'

In recent years, cryptocurrencies and Web3.0 have garnered global attention, but their complexity often leaves many unable to understand their mechanisms and usage, causing them to hesitate in taking the first step. Eliminating these entry barriers is crucial for the proliferation of Web3.0 in Japan.

To create learning opportunities, the domestic cryptocurrency exchange OKJ hosted an event named 'OKJ Academy'.

OKJ Academy is designed for cryptocurrency and Web3.0 beginners, students interested in Web3.0, and those curious about finance and investment but who have yet to engage with cryptocurrencies. The aim is to deepen understanding of Web3.0, starting with cryptocurrencies, and to eliminate barriers.

The first session focused on 'Bitcoin' and was held on October 31, a significant date marking 17 years since the publication of the Bitcoin whitepaper.

The editorial team reports on the event held on this special day.

The Importance of 'Information Literacy' in Engaging with Bitcoin

Yujiro Sugita, a former professional boxer and now a Bitcoin evangelist, was the special lecturer at the event. Sugita, who won the All Japan Rookie of the Year award in the super bantamweight category, was introduced to Bitcoin in 2013 through a sponsor and was deeply impressed by its potential after meeting early investor Roger Ver, known as 'Bitcoin Jesus'. This led to his current activities.

Sugita explained Bitcoin's history, its role, and the future potential of blockchain technology in an accessible manner. He also shared valuable anecdotes from his long involvement with Bitcoin and the industry, carefully articulating the allure of Bitcoin.

One memorable moment was when Sugita quoted a message from the respected entrepreneur Takafumi Horie, saying to 'shower in information.'

In the rapidly evolving fields of cryptocurrency and Web3.0, information literacy is crucial. However, as mentioned earlier, this sector is incredibly complex, with a vast amount of information to absorb.

Sugita emphasized the importance of immersing oneself in all kinds of information, which can prove invaluable when needed, and stated, 'Information becomes a weapon. Without it, you are at risk of being exploited in this world.'

Basic Cryptocurrency Lecture for Beginners

In the latter part of the event, Mr. Masaki Saito, the Chief Manager at OKJ, delivered a lecture on the differences between cryptocurrencies and securities.

Here, the future potential of cryptocurrencies was discussed, highlighting their availability for trading 24/7/365 and the growing market size each year. He also emphasized the higher volatility compared to securities, and the importance of individual security awareness.

Overall, the content was tailored for cryptocurrency beginners, making it an understandable lecture even for those who have never traded cryptocurrencies before.

OKJ5

A Lively Venue with a 'Bitcoin' Quiz

During and at the end of the lecture, a Bitcoin-related quiz was held, with all participants answering with serious expressions.

While the questions were primarily based on the topics covered in the lecture, there were also some highly specialized questions prepared, making it an enjoyable experience for all attendees.

A Valuable Opportunity for Enjoyable Learning

Despite the inclement weather on the day of the event, a large number of attendees gathered. After the event, a networking session was held where conversations about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading were lively.

The event attracted a diverse age group, including a noticeable number of students, which was a highlight.

Opportunities for beginners to learn about cryptocurrencies and Web3.0 are rare. The atmosphere created to make it easy and enjoyable for anyone to participate and learn was a positive aspect.

OKJ is planning a second event. For those interested in learning more about cryptocurrencies and Web3.0, consider attending the next session.
