Proof of Possibility Iolite vol.3 編集後記

Editor's Note “What the Have Nots Have”

As a media partner of “IVS Crypto 2023 KYOTO,” Iolite also supported the event for three days from June 28th. IVS has been organizing conferences for startup executives since 2007.

When I attended IVS in Okinawa last year, I had only been editor-in-chief for three months and had little knowledge or connections in the Web 3.0 area. I remember thinking, “Someday, I would like to join our media as a media partner and participate in a panel discussion.

To be honest, the only memory I have of last year is that I had to rush to Naha Airport with the representative to pour down some Orion beer with Soki Soba and island rakkyo and then rush to the airplane because of the magazine's submission work.

This year, however, I was able to forget about time and enjoy kappo cuisine in Kyoto with the representative on the middle day of the event. I am grateful to IVS for giving me two memories of a destination where the flow of time was completely different.

The side event panel discussion topics included “How did you get into the Web 3.0 area” and “What do you think is interesting about the Web 3.0 area. Since this was a student-led event and more than 80% of the participants were students, I thought back to my student days and wondered what I could talk about.

I remember that when I was a student, self-help business books were at the height of their popularity. I remember a friend of mine used to tell me about a book he must have read last night.

I think it was something like, “How quickly you turn the PDCA cycle is important,” or “There are two ways to become a wealthy person,” etc. I listened to them and read Toru Mishiro's book, “Only One Enthusiast,” to the point that it wore me out, and all I could think about was clearing the same month over month ratio as the previous year at the restaurant where I worked. All I could think about was clearing the same month-over-month ratio at the restaurant where I worked.

I am proud to say that during the four years I worked at one of the restaurants, I never once lost sales compared to the same month of the previous year.

At times, young people who knew nothing about cooking would say, “This is not kind to the customers. He sometimes made the atmosphere in the kitchen worse when a young man who did not know how to cook said to a chef who was more than 30 years older than him, “This is not kind to the customers and I want you to make it again. It was right around this time that he was given the responsibility of holding the banner of the restaurant while pulling sashimi and practicing for a year to make more than 200 pieces of sushi a day.

What was the rush to live? I feel like there are more elements of craziness, but I really was in a frenzy. I believe that the frenzy that comes with youth and ignorance is always a good thing to have.

At 32 years old, I may not have much experience in life, but I have always had a rule in my mind that if I get lost, I will jump in with all my might. No one would think of jumping over a 10-meter-high hurdle in the flesh.

However, I am wondering if there is a possibility that I can jump over a 1-meter hurdle. I think hesitation is a proof of possibility. This is also the true reason why I think that if there is a possibility there, you should give it a try.

I still vividly remember that I once went to the NFT press conference of Tsuyoshi Shinjo, the current manager of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, for my first interview after I became the editor-in-chief.

I was a novice at the time, and I had no questions about the NFT.

He definitely looked me in the eye and pointed out, “Go ahead,” but as it turned out, the moderator had appointed only well-known media reporters.
